Newberg’s
Camellia Trail:
A Community Art Project
The Camellia Trail is a Paint-by-number collaboration and celebration of our City’s official flower.
-
1. Local artist paints camellia.
NPAC has commissioned Camellia paintings from four local artists.
-
2. Artwork is digitized into paint-by-number.
Original paintings are simplified into line drawings and blocks of color.
-
3. NPAC traces and numbers it.
Our public art council members take turns tracing the work onto a 4x4’ plywood mini mural.
-
4. Newberg community members make it beautiful!
Hundreds of neighbors add their unique brush strokes to each mural.
-
5. Mini-murals will be part of the Camellia Trail.
NPAC is identifying key areas in downtown Newberg to display our collaborative project for all to enjoy.
2025 Update
This year, the Camellia Trail is growing—with new mini-murals designed by local Hispanic artists and painted by the community. These vibrant works celebrate the cultural heritage and stories of Newberg’s Hispanic community, adding color, diversity, and connection to our downtown. Join us in honoring the voices that make Newberg shine.
This project is supported by funds from the Oregon Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oregon Cultural Trust and the Austin Family Foundation.
